
BMW has revealed its new 1-Series coupe range, with the world’s most powerful production four-cylinder diesel engine among the highlights.
This unit will power the 123d model, which delivers 204bhp and hits a top speed of 148mph while offering a combined economy rate of 54.3mpg.
Two other engine choices will be available the 120d’s unit will offer 177bhp and 58.9mpg while the 135i coupe will be driven by 306bhp, taking the car from 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds and to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
The new 1-Series coupe range will have a 50:50 weight distribution and a front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration, offering optimum driving dynamics. The coupe model will use the same architecture as three- and five-door versions of the 1-Series, but with an increase in body size to emphasise its sporting nature and improve boot space.
