Replica Audi racer hits road

A detailed replica of a vintage Audi car will be made commercially available for the first time in decades, the manufacturer has announced.

The 1930s Type C Grand Prix pedal vehicle will roll out on the road at £6,800 and the group is expecting it to be a must-have for collectors.

While the firm has only made 999 units, it has stated that the lightweight and aluminium construction are principles that characterise what Audi stands for.

"From the shade of its silky smooth Avus silver paint, right down to its last painstakingly punched rivet, the Type C will be as faithful as technically possible to the full-blown legend that inspired it," read a company statement.

Audi was known as Auto Union when it was initially established in Germany in 1932.

The firm’s logo of four interlocking rings symbolises its founders – Horch, Audi, DKW and Wanderer.
