Trinity Restaurant
Description
Trinity sees chef-restaurateur Adam Byatt return to his Clapham roots after a sojourn among the bright lights of WC2 - ex Thyme and Origin at Covent Garden's Hospital media complex, and originally of the much-acclaimed Thyme in Clapham Park Road. Here he's landing back in the Old Town area on the edge of leafy Clapham Common, and has created an exciting, buzzy, neighbourhood venture. Set well back from the road, it catches the eye and the light with its smart exterior and large window frontage. Inside there's a sophisticated, friendly atmosphere, the room decked out with white-clothed tables, elegant cream and chocolate-coloured walls, comfortable cane-backed chairs and soft lighting, all providing a contemporary backdrop to the polished, modern French cooking. There are also distant glimpses of the kitchen, plus a large private-dining 'kitchen table' that offers a closer window on all the action. Service is relaxed and friendly, yet suitably professional and knowledgeable. Adam's appealing menus feature interesting and adventurous combinations alongside some simpler dishes (including a Joint of the Day) on a repertoire that includes his hallmark tasting options. High technique, clear flavours, creative presentation and tip-top produce add to the wow-factor; take 'sea bass - crosnes - artichoke' (which translates to slow-cooked fillet of sea bass served with a ragout of ceps, hazelnuts, crosnes and Jerusalem artichoke soup).
