Description
As the name suggests, this restaurant with rooms was once a bakery (1837-1945) and still retains many of the original features, including the quarry-tiled floor and ovens still in the walls. Consisting of two well-furnished rooms, the restaurant's atmosphere is rustic, homely and full of character, a theme not lost on the attentive staff either, who are fittingly friendly and polite. The skilled Italian chef-patron is passionate about the food, clear flavours and use of local, seasonal Lincolnshire produce. The approach is modern underpinned by a classical base; think chargrilled entrecote of Lincolnshire Red beef with creamed Savoy cabbage and smoked crispy streaky bacon or hay slow-roasted baby pig, and do save room for the home-made breads and impressive cheese selection.
