The Elephant's refurbished fine-dining restaurant and brasserie are housed in two stylishly converted Georgian houses overlooking the bustling harbour. Downstairs, the Elephant Brasserie offers a more informal setting, open for lunch and dinner and serving good quality, simple brasserie dishes at affordable prices. The fine-dining restaurant - The Room - is located on the first floor with spectacular bay views, the showcase for the award-winning cuisine of Simon Hulstone and his accomplished team. At the stove is a chef with a strong culinary pedigree, whose growing reputation for precise, confident and accomplished cooking sees the popularity of this establishment continue to blossom. Quality West Country ingredients and vibrant flavours shine through well-constructed dishes, and a six-course tasting menu is available alongside the carte; perhaps fillet of Torbay brill on parsnip purée with spring onion and verjus butter sauce, or aged fillet of Ruby Red beef on the bone with fondant potato and snail and wild garlic butter sauce might jostle for your attention. To finish, perhaps gingerbread tansy pudding with pumpkin and vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed tuile.
