Rocpool
Description
A busy city-centre brasserie with sleek contemporary interior, riverside views and an energetic atmosphere, Rocpool brings a touch of modern style and glamour to town. Lots of wood and glass - with windows the entire length of the long, slim room - comes decked out with wood tables, crisp white linen and leather banquettes, backed by attentive but unobtrusive service. The food is equally fashionable in the modern European vein, delivering quality ingredients cooked with simplicity and flair. Dishes come attractively presented but sensibly not over embellished as in chump of lamb roasted with garlic and thyme and served with Lyonnaise potatoes, oven-roasted tomato, zucchini and spinach. While the carte cranks things up a gear, the fixed-price lunch and early-evening options offer excellent value.
