Description

Andrews is the epitome of the restaurant-with-rooms genre. Positioned in a delightful setting right on the water's edge, this charming Georgian building overlooks Porlock Bay and the weir. A charming place in classic country-house mode, it has a singular dedication to serving fine food and freshest ingredients that makes the dining experience memorable. The restaurant itself is light and elegant with a relaxed, informal atmosphere and large windows providing splendid views over the harbour. Service is welcoming, attentive and friendly yet precise, in tune with the atmosphere and kitchen's approach. Chef-patron Andrew Dixon's modern European cooking style is underpinned by classical French roots and inspired by carefully sourced, high-quality local produce that's intelligently simply prepared with flair to let clear, clean flavours shine without unnecessary over-complication. High skill, attention to detail, balanced combinations and spot-on execution all parade on the fixed-price repertoire of lunch, carte and vegetarian menus. Expect Somerset tenderloin pork, slow roasted and perhaps served with mushrooms a la crème, Parmentier potato, pancetta, confit onions and Madeira jus, while lemon pannacotta with carpaccio of pineapple, mango salsa and citrus syrup might prove a suitably impressive finale.
