La Potiniere
Description
Set in a charming cottage, La Potinière is a two-partner operation, with both owners sharing the kitchen, while Keith also acts as host and wine waiter. Accordingly, the meal is a leisurely four-course affair at dinner, plus an amuse-bouche and pre-dessert, and three courses at lunch. Smart, crisp linen and quality tableware reinforce the kitchen's serious intent, while the cooking lends a contemporary touch with artistic presentation and makes fine use of local seasonal produce. There are just two choices at each course, perhaps featuring Thai coconut soup with poached scallops, followed by braised fillet of brill or roast fillet of Scotch beef with parsnip mash, winter vegetables and shallot sauce. Round things off in style with praline parfait or warm chocolate fondant.
