The impressive 600-year-old Grade II listed building has oak floors throughout, with a solid oak staircase leading to the first-floor restaurant. Here, oak beams, wooden furnishings, candlelight and crisp white napery add to the atmosphere, making it a lovely venue for a special meal. Cooking is generally modern European in style using the best of local produce, with an eclectic combination of New World ingredients combined with classical techniques and smart presentation. Try ham hock and parsley terrine with cauliflower parfait and apple purée, and pan-fried fillet of red mullet with cep mushrooms, pearl barley risotto and cucumber relish.
