Description
Nestled on the banks of a sleepy stretch of the Thames, this restaurant has a long-standing reputation for quality cuisine. Take a drink in the cosy bar where a spit-roast duck turns above the fire promising good things to come, and then move through to the elegant dining room where you'll find tables set with quality ware, many with views of the river. A classical English and French menu with innovative touches suits the formal setting; start with pan-fried scallops served on a relish of cucumber and tomato with coriander and curry dressing perhaps, and then tuck into whole grilled or pan-fried Dover sole, tournedos de boeuf au vin rouge, finishing with chocolate soufflé.
