The Vintners Rooms

An atmospheric restaurant, lit only by flickering candles, is housed in the old wine merchants' auction room of this 16th-century former warehouse. The dining room is exquisitely adorned with hand-worked stucco and is set over historic vaults, which have stored imported barrels of fine wines from France since the 12th century. This is rustic cuisine presented with great artistry, with modern French dishes conjured from quality Scottish produce - foie gras and lobster terrine; saddle of lamb stuffed with haggis and spinach; and lemon tarte meringue with passion fruit sorbet - complemented by an extensive wine list. A bar area with a bistro feel provides an alternative to the formal restaurant.
