Crown & Sandys Arms
Description
A classy establishment run by Richard Everton who also owns the village deli and wine shop, so you can expect an ample range of wines by the glass and a good selection of real ales. The décor is bang up-to-date, yet the original beams and fireplaces seem to blend effortlessly with the trendy furnishings. Regular 'wine dinners' and themed evenings complement the modern menus, which burst with the latest flavours. Freshly-made sandwiches, paninis and baguettes are supplemented on weekdays by home-made pizzas prepared to order, with different topping requests usually accommodated. Choose from dishes such as beef carpaccio marinated with wasabi and herbs, sushi ginger, noodle and scallion salad; and pan-fried breast of chicken wrapped in Parma ham, porcini mushroom and blue cheese risotto. If seafood is your preference, exotic options (barramundi, mahi-mahi) may vie with the likes of red mullet, gurnard and mackerel in daily changing specials.
