Description
The great attraction of this museum is the chance to see inside a submarine, and there are guided tours of <04>HMS Alliance<01>, as well as displays exploring the development of submarines. Two periscopes from <04>HMS Conqueror<01> can be seen in the reconstruction of a nuclear submarine control room, giving panoramic views of Portsmouth Harbour. One gallery shows the development of submarine weapons from the tiny torpedo to the huge polaris nuclear missile. The Navy's first submarine is also on display.
