Description
A privately run, 17th-century inn with super views, in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Lord of the Rings author J R R Tolkien used to drink here when visiting his son at Stonyhurst College nearby. The menu ranges from sandwiches and salads to steak and kidney pudding; roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding; vegetable lasagne; and poached salmon supreme. A conservatory links the restaurant with the patio and gardens.
