Description
The Starr is a timber-framed, 15th-century coaching inn overlooking the village market place. Billed as a restaurant with rooms, it has built up a loyal following for its smart décor, good food and friendly service. The restaurant occupies a converted stable block to the rear of the main building and, together with the conservatory, makes an excellent venue for serious dining. A skilful kitchen team produces modern British dishes with some French influences. House favourites include pan-seared Lyme Bay scallops with parsnip purée and parsnip crisps, and Suffolk pork belly 'four ways' with caramelised endive, fondant potato and apple velouté. Another multi-faceted dish is a pudding of lemon 'three ways'.
