The Garrack

Burthallan Lane, ST IVES, TR26 3AA

1 rosettes

The restaurant offers sea views over St Ives and has a stylish contemporary look, with high-backed leather seats. Pan-fried scallops with crispy-coated black pudding, silky celeriac purée and roast pepper emulsion is a starter of vibrant, well-defined flavours. Follow with beautifully cooked slow-roast belly pork with crisp crackling, bubble-and-squeak and thyme-speckled cider jus, with rhubarb compôte by way of counterpoint. Global cuisines add variety - tempura crayfish tails, say, with sweet chilli dipping sauce and mango and chilli salsa, then pink duck breast in an orange reduction with wontons, spiced pears and butternut squash roasted with beetroot. Pastry is consistently good, seen in pear frangipane tart with Amaretto ice cream.
