Milford Hall Hotel,
206 Castle Street,
SALISBURY,
SP1 3TE
Set within the Milford Hall Hotel, the restaurant is some kind of homage to the surf-and-turf principle, in an artfully designed, blond-wood environment with one padded wall looking like a giant bed headboard and another occupied by wine-shelving. The menu essays an unashamedly retro approach, incorporating Parma ham and melon or minestrone among starter options, before you move on to the main, eponymous business. That might be either a big, juicy, 10oz rib-eye, with proper chips, a large flat herbed mushroom and a raw tomato, chargrilled salmon steak, or baked cod with prawns, basil and parmesan cream. Finish with textured lemon mousse served in a glass.
