Run by a husband-and-wife team, this lively, welcoming bistro is housed in a converted 19th-century theatre. The warm, rich décor adds to the cosy and informal atmosphere, with squishy sofas perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks. Contemporary Scottish cooking with a continental twist makes the most of the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible, and everything from the delicious bread to the post-dinner chocolates is home made. Try the rillettes of duckling with ginger and beetroot to start, followed perhaps by monkfish on slow-cooked pork belly with white bean fricassee, vermouth, tomato and basil. It's a great local favourite, so be sure to book ahead.
