Description
The setting in a fine stone building overlooking the Tay is second to none in the city, and the change of ownership in 2007 has seen it go from strength to strength. The stylish modern dining room is accessed via a flight of steps next door to Perth's council offices and it remains a popular choice for both dinner and the good-value lunch, with friendly and attentive waiting staff. Local produce figures large on the ambitious menu, from Stornoway black pudding to Carnoustie pork, and with European influences very much in evidence, the result is confident modern Scottish cooking. Carpaccio of Scrabster haddock comes with lightly scrambled eggs on chick pea toast in a successful starter, and main-course duck is pink and moist and complemented by a fragrant barbecue dipping sauce, cherries and orzo.

Expectations unfulfilled at this 2 rosette restaurant. Pork main course at lunch was tough and not particularly tasty. Complimentary coffee not acceptable on a £19.95 menu. We cannot recommend .
