The Old Rectory

103 Yarmouth Road, Thorpe St Andrew, NORWICH, NR7 0HF

2 rosettes

Creepers cover the large Georgian house, giving the impression the garden is attempting to reclaim the land - but this red-brick former rectory is here to stay. The daily-changing menu has a good showing of regional produce. Starters of partridge, pork and prune terrine or lime-marinated organic salmon fillet with grapefruit, pickled vegetables and orange dressing are typical of the output. Among main courses, baked fillet of cod is served with saffron mash, leeks, peas and roasted tomato dressing, and Gressingham duck might feature as leg confit served with baked Jersey Royals, roast Puy lentils and a selection of vegetables. Puddings may bring white chocolate and vanilla tart with rhubarb.
