The Golf View Hotel's name may nail its colours to the mast, but you don't have to be a fan of the game to revel in the timeless appeal of strolling the sandy beaches of the Moray Firth and soaking up the views across to the Black Isle. When you head indoors from the pleasures of the seashore or the world-renowned Nairn golf courses, those glorious coastal panoramas are still there, viewed through sweeping picture windows in the hotel's restaurant. Classic French techniques underpin the contemporary Scottish cooking, with a good showing of top-class local ingredients at the heart of it all. Expect the likes of roasted mussels with garlic and chervil butter, followed by grilled red mullet fillets served with sun-blushed tomato risotto, aubergine caviar and sauce vierge. To finish, there may be mango pannacotta with pineapple and chilli salsa and caramelised brioche toast.
