Eshott Hall

Eshott, MORPETH, NE65 9EN

2 rosettes

Between Morpeth and Alnwick, Eshott Hall is a compact boutique hotel in a handsome Georgian property - a perfect base from which to explore the Northumberland National Park and end the day with dinner in the elegant restaurant, with its moulded plasterwork on the walls, a soothing gold colour scheme and a fire in cooler weather. Pigeon breast with beetroot, blackberry and dark chocolate is the sort of lively starter to expect. Main courses maintain the style, perhaps venison loin with kohlrabi, black cherries, baby leeks and bubble and squeak fritters. End with something like blueberry Bakewell tart with cinnamon ice cream.
