The Cotford Hotel,

MALVERN,

Once the summer residence of the Bishop of Worcester, this pretty Victorian house is now a charming family-run hotel and restaurant. The house is in the shadow of the Malvern Hills, in beautiful gardens which include a pretty waterfall, over which you can gaze through large sash windows in the light and airy dining room located in the former private chapel. Cooking is based on traditional Anglo-French thinking and there's a good amount of regional produce name-checked on the menu. Smoked trout mousse gets the ball rolling, with fennel and walnut oil dressed rocket leaves, followed by wonderfully tender Welsh lamb shank, or braised pork belly with black pudding and chestnut mousse. Finish with a delice of passionfruit or sticky toffee pudding.
