Part of the Gordon Ramsay empire, this excellent conversion of an old Victorian corner pub in Chiswick has all the right gastro-pub trappings: high ceilings, wood panelling, and light flooding through huge windows onto modern chairs, bare-wood tables, wooden floors, and vintage monochrome photos on stark white walls. Although you can pop in for a pint and a sandwich from the bar food menu, it's the roll-call of well-cooked British classics on the main menu that draws a crowd: potted gammon knuckle with treacle glazed pickled onions, perhaps, followed by Dedham Vale rib-eye with marrow bone, celery salt and creamy garlic mash. Finish with a comforting pudding like pear and rhubarb crumble with vanilla custard.
