As the name suggests, this classy restaurant set on a residential side street just off Sloane Square is French through and through. An offshoot of the acclaimed Club Gascon (see entry), the rather cool, modish basement dining room comes decked out with polished-wood tables, leather seating and a glass-fronted wine 'cellar', while white voile curtains bring an ethereal air, and conceal the bar area. The inspired modern French cooking favours the grazing-style of eating, fusing starters and mains under the headings of végétal, marin, fermier and plaisirs, plus cheeses and dessert. Top-notch produce, clear flavours and eye-catching presentation all find their place; expect grilled beef onglet with pommes noisettes and green garlic pulp; crunchy duck foie gras 'bar' with Armagnac and moka; and confit tuna with crispy melting pork and béarnaise sauce. Knowledgeable staff deliver slick service, and the corking French wine list some excellent drinking.
