Santini Restaurant

Part of the glossy Sheraton Grand complex in the heart of Edinburgh, Santini is a vibrant contemporary-styled Italian. There's a buzzy cocktail bar to linger in and people watch before progressing through to either the bistro, where you could perch at a high black leather bar stool, or the restaurant, which is a masterpiece of cool Italian design in glass, chrome and neutral shades. The menu takes its inspiration from an eclectic spread of the Italian regions, and pulls together top-drawer Scottish produce with specialist stuff brought in from Italy for total authenticity. Prawns in filo pastry with tomato and basil sauce is an eye-catching starter, ahead of a textbook tender osso buco - braised veal shank with tomatoes and herbs and saffron risotto - or perhaps chargrilled tuna with Sicilian caponata vegetables. The restaurant is now also open for breakfast.
