Perfectly positioned for those who fancy a flutter at Royal Ascot, the Berystede is no one trick pony. There's an impressive spa and health club, as well the elegant Hyperion restaurant. All are set in the Victorian splendour of the historic hotel where fish-scale shingle tiles, mock-Tudor timbers and witches hat turrets set the scene. The attractive dining room takes its name from a well-known Derby racehorse and features tables set neatly with good crockery and cutlery and fresh orchids. Good quality ingredients are highlighted in simple modern European dishes such as Gressingham duck spring roll with rhubarb compôte and teriyaki dressing, followed by pan-fried rosemary and thyme-infused free-range corn-fed chicken supreme with broad bean and chorizo risotto, parmesan and rocket pesto, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
