Close to the 12th-century Hospital of St Cross & Almshouse of Noble Poverty, this community local is now run by David and Kerry Hicks. Greene King ales and good value food are served in the main bar, pine-furnished lounge and walled garden. Daily specials include pan-fried sirloin steak; oven-roasted chicken supreme stuffed with mozzarella and chorizo; pan-seared salmon fillet; and wild mushroom risotto.
