The New Inn
German Street,
WINCHELSEA,
TN36 4EN
It may not be a thriving seaport any more but Winchelsea boasts one of the finest collections of heritage medieval buildings in Britain and the historic 18th-century New Inn welcomes visitors and locals alike. Known today for its comfort, hospitality and excellent cuisine, it offers a light bite menu (moules marinière, local sausages and mash) or a dining menu that features the likes of Rye Bay seafood linguine, rack of Sussex lamb and hot Thai red chicken curry. The lovely walled garden is a delight on a sunny day.

Our first impression was favourable and the beer was reasonable. The food was awful - overpriced, tasteless meagre portions. The lasagne portion was tiny for over £7 with a stodgy piece of garlic bread and a small portion of salad already saturated in dressing. The base part of the lasagne was simply plain mince - nothing but mince! My wife's vegetable lasagne was no better - mainly chunks of undercooked corgettes.
We will never visit again.
