Watership Down Inn
Freefolk Priors,
WHITCHURCH,
RG28 7NJ
Enjoy an exhilarating walk on Watership Down before relaxing with a pint of well-kept local ale at this homely 19th-century inn named after Richard Adams' classic tale of rabbit life. The pub offers a menu that includes scampi, chips and peas; steak and ale pie; Caribbean chicken; plus baguettes, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. All dishes are available in smaller portions for children, and as takeaways.

It looks good from the outside and is welcoming on entering. There is a log fire and lit candles on every table. The staff are really really friendly - I didn't want to leave. On each table are flowers a quote book and game - a nice touch. The beer is apparently good and there is pumped cyder - always a big plus for a non beer drinker like me! I ordered Basil bashed chicken and you could hear the chicken being 'bashed' from in the bar!
