Ye Olde Royal Oak

WETTON, Ashbourne, DE6 2AF

In the Manifold Valley, this white-painted, stone-built inn dates back to at least 1760. Attractions such as Thors Cave, Wetton Mill and the stepping-stones at Dovedale are within walking distance, so ramblers, campers and cyclists are always calling in for a pint or two of Wincle brewery's Sir Philip, or Belvoir's Gordon Bennett. Of course, they're normally hungry too, and order home-cooked sirloin steak with onion rings and mushrooms; Greek-style lamb with mixed rice; or roasted vegetable and Wensleydale cheese bake. The moorland garden incorporates a registered campsite.
