The Bridge Inn

On a quiet lane running along the west side of the broad Wiltshire Avon, this charming pub has a large, grassy garden running down to the wide sweep of the river. Seasonal starter choices might include gravadlax with warm potato cake, dill and mustard crème fraîche; and leek and gruyère tartlet. Appearing among the half-dozen winter menu mains were open ravioli with roasted vegetables and cheese sauce; home-made fishcakes with mushrooms, shallots, herbed fries and bacon and red wine; and rib-eye steak with chips and sautéed mange-tout.
