This 16th-century coaching inn stands on a broad tree-lined street in 'the Jewel of the Weald'. Renovated and rejuvenated, the pub combines its many original features with a contemporary look and feel. Reasonably priced fresh food ranges from starters of roasted Portobello mushrooms, or shredded duck in crisp filo pastry, to mains such as harissa lamb kebabs or chicken Caesar salad. Look out for special offers on pub classics served all day. Reliable Marston's ales are the mainstay in the bar.

Relaxing and child friendly, we always eat here when in Tenterden. Roast dinners are great and the steaks are amazing. There are always more adventurous menu options too. Children are well catered for, with an '... and chips' menu or smaller portions of main courses from the menu.
