A 14th-century coaching inn with a sympathetic extension overlooking the River Teme. A pleasant patio eating area means you can relax outside and enjoy the views over the valley in summer. The inviting bars and oak-panelled restaurant are enhanced by oak beams, dried hops and open log fires, while upstairs the ghost of Mrs Brown, a former landlady, does her best to make her presence felt. Produce from local markets and specialist suppliers is used for the menus, which cover an eclectic mix of reasonably priced dishes. The bar menu ranges from a three-egg omelette with choice of fillings and served with chips; to chilli con carne; or rendang pedis - a home-made Indonesian beef curry made to a traditional family recipe. Other main courses tend towards the more usual: spicy meatballs; wholetail scampi; creamy pasta bake; and barbecued chicken fillet are among the choices.
