Darbys Freehouse

1&2 Elsing Road, SWANTON MORLEY, Dereham, NR20 4NY

A large country house, divided first into cottages in the late 19th century, then in 1988 converted into a pub. The old beams and inglenooks are still there, of course, while the spacious bar is furnished with stripped pine tables and benches, and stools are made from tractor seats. Mostly locally supplied, traditional pub food includes home-made curries; scampi and chips; chicken mozzarella melt; and vegetarian and children's selections. Guest ales join Norfolk and Suffolk regulars.
