In a hamlet on the Isle of Oxney, this 300-year-old, tile-hung pub with a contemporary interior is close to the old cliff-line above Romney Marsh, once the seabed. In the bar, Larkins and Shepherd Neame's Kent-brewed ales and a big inglenook; in the wood-floored dining room menus vary according to the day of the week: on Thursdays and Fridays the Bistro menu offers home-made lasagne; leek and potato-topped fish pie; and feta, leek and parmesan 'pielets'. Wood-fired pizzas are prepared on Fridays and Saturdays. A west-facing patio overlooks the countryside.
