A pink-washed, twin-gabled building behind a neat white picket fence, this is the latest Papillon restaurant; it was preceded by two others in Hertfordshire. The bar serves well-kept ales in a welcoming atmosphere, plus an eclectic mix of snacks or pub lunches. Restaurant food includes plentiful fish dishes (perhaps fresh halibut with tomato and thermidor sauces) while others might include venison with a cinnamon black cherry sauce. Accommodation is available in ten en suite bedrooms.
