Papillon Woodhall Arms

This is a pink-washed twin-gabled building behind a neat white picket fence, just a five-minute drive from the centre of Hertford. The bar serves well-kept ales in a welcoming atmosphere, plus a huge selection of snacks and pub favourites, including chicken curry, spaghetti bolognese and fresh mussels. The restaurant menu has roast saddle of lamb, veal escalopes, butternut squash pastry parcels, grilled halibut steak, and sautéed scallops. Desserts include individual pear and almond crumble, and a selection of sorbets. Accommodation is available in ten en suite bedrooms.
