This popular, traditional inn is an oasis of tranquillity surrounded by fields on the outskirts of St Mary Bourne. Built around the end of the 19th century, it was known as The Railway Inn, due to its proximity to the now vanished railway line and station. Smartly furnished throughout, it has a large character bar with plenty of guest ales and a more intimate dining area, as well as a riverside garden abounding with wildlife where children can let off steam in the special play area. At lunch you could enjoy a 'country pub classic' such as lasagne, salad and chips; beer-batter cod; eggs and gammon; and mushroom and pepper stroganoff.
