The Armoury

On the opposite bank of the river from Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn, this converted armoury building makes an impressive, large scale pub with its vast warehouse windows. Inside, huge bookcases dominate the bar and restaurant area, where the comprehensive menu is accompanied by a great range of real ales such as Woods Shropshire Lad, local cider and a well-considered wine list. Typical dishes are braised shoulder of lamb with minted new potatoes, vegetables and gravy; and pan-fried fillet of sea bass with noodles, pak choi, sweet and sour sauce and basmati rice.
