The Good Intent

Candlelit tables, original oak beams, open fires, an inglenook fireplace and well-kept ales characterise this 16th-century pub, and in summer, flower tubs and hanging baskets festoon the front patio. Menus feature starters such as crab soufflé or home-made duck and chicken liver pâté; followed by O'Hagans sausages and mash; ham (home prepared), free range egg and hand cut chips; pan-fried salmon fillet with orange and vanilla sauce; or rack of lamb with caramelised apple and potato cake. Sandwiches and baguettes are also available at lunchtime. Sunday evening is live music night.
