Church Lane, MINTING, LN9 5RS
First licensed in 1836, the Sebastopol is located in the picturesque village of Minting. Head chef and co-owner Nick Reed has built an excellent reputation for great food that can be enjoyed in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. For his modern menus of beautifully presented dishes, Nick sources the highest quality ingredients from the best local producers, and wild foods from the surrounding countryside appear too. Perhaps choose a starter of pig's head fritter, apple, mustard and chive blossom; or cured line-caught mackerel, beetroot, horseradish, dulse and miso gel. Then turn your attention to Minting Park Farm brisket, smoked barley risotto, fermented mushroom, pickled spring onion and chive oil; wood pigeon (may contain shot!) poached in pine butter, Jerusalem artichoke three ways, rowan and apple jelly, pine oil; or grilled halibut, lemon skin purée, hash brown, crisp air-dried pork belly, smoked halibut emulsion, fermented mushroom and broccoli. Desserts are no less tempting so save room for set yogurt, fennel, liquorice poached pear and ginger crumb; or the simply described 'lemon, meringue, thyme'.
