The Black Horse Inn
Pilgrims Way,
Thurnham,
MAIDSTONE,
ME14 3LD
Smack beside the Pilgrim's Way and tucked just below the North Downs ridge, this popular free house was converted from a forge in the 18th century. Much extended, with stylish annexe bedrooms to the rear, you'll find a charming beamed bar with open fires for quaffing pints of Harveys Sussex Bitter and local Biddenden cider, and a candlelit restaurant serving a good range of imaginative food. Enjoy your drink or dine outside in the lovely garden with its fish and duck pond.

This pub has a laid back informal atmosphere. A welcome log fire and a good choice of beers and wines, with some strong local ciders, be warned. But it is the food which really shines here, the slow-roast belly of pork was quite delisious. Highly recommended.
