Pilgrim's Way, Thurnham, MAIDSTONE, ME14 3LD
Tucked beneath the North Downs on the Pilgrim's Way, this 18th-century former forge welcomes guests with an open log fire in the colder months. Dine in the conservatory restaurant that has garden views or in the cosy candlelit restaurant. Real ales change weekly and the kitchen uses local ingredients in fish or meat sharing plates, or in mains like roast beef, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding; or slow-roasted belly of pork and stuffed loin of pork, served with carrot purée, black pudding mashed potatoes, stuffed cabbage leaf and cider and apple sauce; a daily-changing specials board adds to the choices.
