The Mall Tavern

71-73 Palace Gardens Terrace, Notting Hill, LONDON W8, W8 4RU

A Victorian pub built in 1856 midway between Notting Hill and Kensington, The Mall was, and remains, a true locals' tavern - albeit a rather stylish, upmarket one. With two AA Rosettes, expect a hearty modern take on pub food - maybe venison pork pie with pickled vegetables followed by chicken with white wine, beech mushrooms, baby onions and salsify, with Champagne rhubarb trifle for dessert. Besides regular beers such as Sharp's Doom Bar and By the Horns Stiff Upper Lip, there's an impressive list of wines, with many available by the glass.
