The Fox

28-30 Paul Street, LONDON, EC2A 4LB

Not long ago, few visited Shoreditch for pleasure. Now, together with neighbouring Hoxton and Spitalfields, it is one of the capital's buzziest districts, with Victorian pubs like this thriving once more. Carefully selected wines and real ales - Harvey's Sussex and Otter, for example - and simple, straightforward food help to make it the place to head for after the shops and flower market of Columbia Road, the Asian bustle of Brick Lane, or a hard day at the office. Typically on the menu are linguine with mussels; Blackface lamb steak with celeriac mash; and cottage pie with cabbage.
