This 17th-century pub is one of the original destination gastro-pubs and still does the business with a great rack of specials that change frequently and feature the best Derbyshire produce. Work up an appetite with a walk at the nearby Carsington Water, bag a fireside seat in the antique-rich, rustic bar, chinwag with the locals and look forward to local wild mushrooms on toast with melted Dovedale Blue Stilton followed by Derbyshire extra matured sirloin steak, or Gressingham duck breast with port and black cherry sauce. In summer, you can enjoy a Derbyshire beer in the tranquil garden.
