Eyre Arms

HASSOP, Bakewell, DE45 1NS

Ivy-clad and resolutely traditional, this charming free house started life as a farmstead and 17th-century coaching inn and has been proudly run by the same family for 18 years. Views of rolling Peak District countryside from the secluded garden can only be improved with a pint of Bakewell Best in hand, brewed on the nearby Chatsworth Estate. Oak settles, low ceilings and cheery log fires create a cosy atmosphere, ideal surroundings for enjoying dishes such as Grand Marnier duckling; local rainbow trout baked with butter and almonds; or braised pheasant cooked in a Madeira, mushroom and bacon sauce.
