The Alexandra Hotel

203 Siddals Road, DERBY, DE1 2QE

This small hotel was built in 1871 and is named after the Danish princess who married the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII. It was also known as the Midland coffee house after the Midland railway company, one of Derby's major employers. It is noted for its real ales from seven hand pumps, and an annual beer festival confirms its serious approach to the amber liquid; real ciders, and bottled and draught continental beers complete the line-up at the bar. Simple food offerings include pies and filled rolls.
