The Bull Terrier

Long Street, CROSCOMBE, BA5 3QJ

First licensed in 1612, this unspoiled village free house is one of Somerset's oldest pubs. With three bars and a dining room, the building itself dates from the late 15th century, though the fireplace and ceiling in the inglenook bar are 16th-century additions. The name was changed from the 'Rose and Crown' in 1976. The pretty walled garden overlooks the surrounding hills. One menu is offered throughout, including chicken in tarragon sauce, lasagne and chilli con carne. Accommodation consists of two brightly decorated bedrooms.
