Description
Meaning 'foot of the garth (mountain)', this welcoming pub was originally part of the Marquess of Bute's estate. Every window of the pub offers exceptional views, and it's a much favoured watering hole for ramblers, cyclists and hang-gliders as well as some colourful locals. Real ales change every week, while the pub's food has won awards with starters such as mussels in a tomato and garlic sauce; and main courses like rack of lamb with a herb crust, or duck breast with a kumquat and blackcurrant sauce.
