Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn

Main Road, GWAELOD-Y-GARTH, CF15 9HH

This stone-built hillside cottage hugs lanes criss-crossing the thickly wooded flank of Garth Hill, high above Taffs Well. Across the vale is the fairytale Victorian sham castle of Castell Coch - one diversion amongst many in this pretty corner of the Taff Valley just north of Cardiff. Guest ales from as far afield as Essex and Derbyshire rub shoulders with local brews at the bar, along with a farm cider from Pontypridd. A pleasing selection of home-cooked pub food produces dishes of roast Glamorgan turkey, and rack of lamb with herb crust.
