Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn

Main Road, GWAELOD-Y-GARTH, CF15 9HH

This stone built hillside cottage hugs lanes striking across the thickly wooded flank of Garth Hill, high above Taffs Well. Across the vale is the fairytale Castell Coch Victorian sham castle; one diversion amongst many in this pretty corner of the Taff Valley just north of Cardiff. Three Cliffs Gold from Swansea Brewery, guest ales and farm cider from Pontypridd slake the thirst of cyclists, ramblers and locals; solid fare is a pleasing mix of sturdy pub grub and tasty specials such as duck breast with kumquat and cassis sauce.
