A buzzing village local with a good name for dependable real ales and freshly prepared fodder. It's a family-run establishment, with Grace and Allen at the helm. Set at the edge of one of Cheshire's picture-perfect villages, near the ancient church and flowery green, the Egerton Arms enjoys views from the peaceful beer garden onto the nearby Bosley Cloud Hill. Take a stroll along the paths there or stroll along the Macclesfield Canal towpath. The restaurant is newly refurbished, and offers a nice selection including pan-fried lamb's liver and onions; bacon chops with cranberry topping; and a variety of baguettes and sandwiches. Stay awhile in the comfortable accommodation and you may meet the ghost, a local lady murdered next door in 1922!
